S͟hayk͟h Dr. ʿAbdullāh Aẓ-Ẓufīrī (ḥafiẓahullāh) writes:

All praise belongs to Allāh, Lord of all creation, and may salutations and peace be upon the Messenger of Allāh, upon his family, and upon all of his Companions. To proceed:

Indeed, a student of knowledge will encounter, in his path of Daʿwah and Knowledge, situations of attack, criticism, and disparagement from the foolish and dim witted, provoked by Satan and by souls that crave prominence and exposure, coupled with a deficiency in intellect and wisdom.

Therefore, it is upon the student of knowledge to observe proper conduct, to adorn himself with the character commanded by Allāh, and to tread the path of the people of knowledge and the bearers of the Qurʾān and the Sunnah.

For Allāh, our Lord, has disciplined us through His Clear Book, saying: “And when the ignorant address them, they say: Peace.”

And He said: “Enjoin what is right, and turn away from the ignorant.”

And the poet said:

“If you conform in character to a vile person, Then you and the one you conformed to are equal.

I have seen that the noble avoid disgrace,

And that loyalty protects them from treachery.

There is no hardship but ease will follow it,

After its severity, relief will surely come.

I have tested this world until experience,

And hardship granted me insight.

When the head of a household passes away,

Harshness from people becomes apparent.

A man lives well so long as he has modesty,

As bark remains so does the branch endure.

By Allāh, there is no good in life,

Nor in this world, if modesty is gone.
