He said:
"As for the scholars, they will not oppose, for example, the vaccination policy in Saudi Arabia; they simply will not do so."
Look, may Allāh protect you, how by this corrupt statement he has undermined the standing of the scholars.
I say: If you return to many of the scholars’ fatwas, you will find that they have differed with the ruler in numerous matters. However, when clarification is needed without incitement, they speak; and when private advice is required, they advise privately, and they do not engage in public defamation.
These are established facts that I place before the fair-minded reader, so that he may see that the scholars do indeed differ with the ruler in some of the most delicate matters.
Indeed, when Al-ʿAllāmah Ibn ʿUthaymīn - may Allāh have mercy on him - sat with the military college, he advised them to shorten the front of the military cap, and he issued a fatwā that the military salute is impermissible. It is well known that military affairs are among the most important state matters, and speaking about them or criticizing them is more dangerous than criticizing the healthcare sector.
Look, may Allāh protect you, that Ibn ʿUthaymīn, Ṣāliḥ Al-Fawzān, and other scholars issued fatwas stating that standing for the national flag and the national anthem is impermissible, even though it is well known that refusing to stand may subject military personnel to disciplinary punishment.
Look, may Allāh protect you, that the scholars issued fatwas declaring the celebration of the National Day and other celebrations approved by the ruler to be illegitimate.
Did the scholars not issue fatwas that free mixing in workplaces and universities is impermissible, even though it has been approved by the ruler?
Did the scholars not rule that interest-based banks are invalid, and that dealing with them is not permissible except in cases of necessity, such as depositing money out of fear of its loss or theft?
Now the corruption of this statement has become clear to you: "The scholars will not oppose the ruler’s policies."
